The Glasgow giants are keen to bolster their squad further before the transfer window slams shut and have identified Giakoumakis as an ideal candidate.
Celtic are said to have opened talks over a deal for the Greece international, with Ange Postecoglou also phoning the player in an attempt to lure him to Parkhead.
The Hoops, though, face competition from Werder Bremen in the chase for Giakoumakis, who was spotted in Germany on Wednesday.
Though Giakoumakis has visited Werder Bremen’s facilities and there have been claims that he prefers a move to the German club, his agent Emmanouilidis has revealed that the player has not taken a final decision.
“Werder still have every chance, we will make a decision shortly“, Emmanouilidis told German daily Bild.
With Emmanouilidis revealing that Giakoumakis will make a final decision regarding his future soon, Celtic will be hoping that the decision is in their favour.
