Tottenham have made a good start to the new campaign after winning each of their opening three Premier League games and are at the top of the league table.

Spurs are widely expected to keep their run going when they take on Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday.

Thompson stressed that Spurs are a confidence side who can put these kinds of runs together when they are playing well and look like a very assured team on the pitch.

However, he insisted that Tottenham also fall off course as well and he feels that such a pattern is likely to be repeated once again.

Thompson said on the Where’s Jeff podcast: “I just think Spurs are a confidence side.

“Once they get a few wins they can go on and go about half a dozen games unbeaten, but then they can fall off very quickly.

“And that has been their problem.

“Spursy as they call it and I would expect that somewhere in the near future.”

Tottenham have not conceded a single goal in the league this season while winning each of their games by a 1-0 scoreline.
