Celtic kick off their Europa League group stage matches with a trip to Spanish top flight club Real Betis, who are managed by former West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini, on Thursday.

The Hoops go into the game on the back of a 3-0 win over Ross County on Saturday, while Real Betis registered a narrow 2-1 victory over Granada on Monday.

Pellegrini previously pointed out how Celtic have an unfair advantage in terms of the amount of time they have to prepare for the match and now Real Betis star Canales has followed suit.

Canales stressed how Real Betis are at a disadvantage as they had to play on Monday, giving them just two days to prepare for their match against Celtic, and insisted that La Liga should look into it.

It doesn’t help much to have played on Monday“, Canales told Real Betis’ in-house media.

It is something that La Liga must take care of.

While Real Betis feel they are at a disadvantage as they had to play on Monday, it remains to be seen if Celtic can make use of it and return home with the three points on Thursday.
