New Spurs boss Antonio Conte is known to be demanding when it comes to reshaping his squad and made it clear before this month started that the club need to improve their squad.
However, Spurs are yet to make a single new signing this window, even with managing director of football Fabio Paratici along with supremo Daniel Leavy overseeing their recruitment drive.
Conte identified Wolves’ Adama Traore as his top target but the winger snubbed interest from Spurs and is now looking to return to his former club Barcelona.
The north London giants also suffered another blow on the transfer front with FC Porto’s Luis Diaz favouring a move to Premier League rivals Liverpool over them, even though they matched the Reds’ offer.
However, Spurs are still working hard behind the scenes and are aiming to spend cash to bring in players before the window slams shut on Monday.
Tottenham are closing in on a deal for Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat, although they could face late competition from Napoli for his signature.
Spurs boss Conte have also identified a number of senior players that are surplus to requirements, including the likes of Tanguy Ndombele, Dele Alli and Giovani Lo Celso, but the club are yet to offload any among the trio.
