As the transfer window clock ticks down Newcastle are still working intensively to try to strengthen Eddie Howe’s squad as they look to avoid a damaging relegation to the Championship.

Manchester United could be poised to send a reinforcement to Newcastle’s aid by letting goalkeeper Henderson join the Magpies.

It is claimed that there is a strong chance that Henderson will sign for Newcastle on a loan deal.

Henderson has made clear to Manchester United boss Ralf Rangnick that he wants to leave Old Trafford this month.

The Red Devils have been reluctant to let the shot-stopper go this month as they look to retain depth in the goalkeeping department.

They could be set to relent though and allow Henderson to sign for Newcastle.

It is unclear whether Newcastle will have an option to sign Henderson on a permanent basis included in the loan deal.
