The Magpies are battling West Ham for Lingard’s signature heading into the final stretch of the transfer window.

Talks with Manchester United broke down earlier this month over their demand for a substantial survival bonus to be included in the deal, which had been set at £12m; it has been claimed they have dropped this sum to £9m now.

Now Newcastle have put in a new proposal for Lingard and are prepared to pay a loan fee of £3m.

They are also prepared to pay Manchester United a further fee of £4m if they remain in the Premier League this season.

All eyes are now on how Manchester United react to the proposal from the Magpies with the clock ticking in the window.

West Ham are also in for Lingard and it has been suggested they are hopeful a deal can be done for the attacker to head back to the London Stadium.

However, Manchester United are thought to be reluctant to strengthen top four rivals in the shape of the Hammers.
