Lingard has struggled for game time this season at Old Trafford, and is keen on leaving the club this month ahead of the expiry of his contract in the summer.
Newcastle and West Ham are both keen on landing the Red Devil before tonight’s transfer deadline.
The Magpies approached Manchester United over a loan deal for Lingard earlier this window and offered to take on his full wages in addition to a loan fee, but were put off by the Mancunians’ demands to include a £12m survival bonus.
However, Lingard has again met with Manchester United interim boss Ralf Rangnick today and has received his blessing to leave on loan and is keen on a move to St James’ Park, with the Magpies firmly on his tail again.
And the Tyneside giants have received a further boost in their hopes of completing a deadline day swoop for Lingard, as Manchester United have lowered the survival bonus from £12m to £9m over the weekend.
The Manchester outfit could lower the survival bonus even further in the last hours of the transfer window, which could further increase Newcastle’s chances of snapping him up.
Newcastle have suffered a blow in their pursuit of Reims striker Hugo Ekitike, with the player snubbing a move to Tyneside and boss Eddie Howe will be keener on bringing in Lingard to bolster his attack.
Manchester United have received an improved bid from West Ham for the 29-year-old but they are understood to be not warm to the idea of strengthening one of their rivals battling for a top four spot.
