White is among the most highly rated prospects in Newcastle’s youth set-up and he is currently plying his trade on a six-month loan deal at League Two side Hartlepool United.
Before the 19-year-old left St James’ Park in January, Howe promoted him to the first-team set-up, which provided him with a chance to work with the senior players on the training ground.
And White has revealed that the training sessions during Howe’s first week in charge at the club were the hardest he has had in his life, although he stressed the new boss brought in a lot of positivity with his motivation.
“He [Howe] made the training ground feel so much better with his motivation, in meetings he is so detailed with everything he has done”, White told Chronicle Live.
“Tactically and technically his sessions are so hard.
“I remember the first week he came in, I’d never worked so hard in my life.”
White added that Howe wants him to focus on his game out of possession and prepare himself to ultimately deal with the physicality of the Premier League.
“The gaffer said to me no-one at the club has got doubts about your technical ability.
“It’s just about what you are like out of possession, how you can cope in certain situations against men, and how that will help with the physicality in the Premier League.
“I think in the eight games since my debut at Selhurst Park [against Crystal Palace in the FA Cup], I had knocks in every one but I had to play through them.
“You can’t miss games with little niggles, and that’s when you turn from a boy into a man.
“I need to come back in the summer as a man.”
White has ambitions of playing senior football for Newcastle by the age of 22 and only time will tell whether he will reach that goal.
