Saliba spent last season on loan at Marseille and was adjudicated the Ligue 1’s Young Player of the Year for his performances.

The 21-year-old defender has been ordered by Mikel Arteta to be part of his squad ahead of next season, but Saliba wants to be back at Marseille over the summer.

The Frenchman is not keen to be a squad player at the Emirates and Marseille have also insisted that they will push to have the defender back.

But according to French sports daily L’Equipe, Marseille will have a few clubs to battle in the race to sign Saliba from Arsenal this summer.

There is Premier League interest in Saliba and Leicester and Newcastle have made enquiries about signing him.

Both clubs are in the market for defenders and Saliba is very much a player who is on their radar, especially after last season.

The Frenchman is also wanted in other top five leagues with Atletico Madrid and Napoli interested in signing him.

With two years left on his contract, Arsenal want to hold talks over the defender’s future at the club in the summer.
