Clarets boss Vincent Kompany has been chasing the signature of Benson after being impressed with his performances at Antwerp.

Burnley have had to work hard to find an agreement with Antwerp over Benson, but now they have made a breakthrough and have a transfer amount settled, according to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri.

However, the two clubs must still settle an important detail relating to the structure of the transfer.

Benson is though expected to undergo his medical with Burnley over the course of the next 48 hours as he looks to complete his switch to Turf Moor.

The 25-year-old, who operates on the right flank, has already turned out for Antwerp this season.

Benson played in the Belgian top flight in a 2-0 win over Mechelen, while he also appeared in the club’s Europa Conference League qualifying tie against FC Drita.

Burnley will hope that Benson can quickly adapt to the cut and thrust of the Championship as they target promotion.
