Werner’s future at Chelsea has been under the scanner this summer due to interest from several clubs in England and in Europe.
Chelsea are in talks with RB Leipzig over a potential deal to move Werner to the German club as part of a potential swap deal for Josko Gvardiol.
Werner would prefer a move back to his former club but he also has suitors in the Premier League in the form of Newcastle.
The German is one of the attackers Newcastle are tracking but it has been claimed they only want to sign him on loan.
Newcastle do not want to overpay or commit funds for a transfer fee to sign the forward this summer.
They would only consider signing him if Chelsea are prepared to agree to a simple loan move.
A move back to Leipzig is his preference but he would have to agree to a significant pay cut to make that a reality.
There are also suggestions that Werner’s future is only likely to be decided towards the end of the window.
