The forgotten frontman was set to join the Tricky Trees on deadline day in England after Steve Cooper’s side had an agreement in place to pay the Belgian’s wages for the last year of his Chelsea contract.
Batshuayi has spent a majority of his Chelsea career out on loan to four different clubs across five spells, two of which came at Crystal Palace and most recently at Istanbul giants Besiktas.
Fenerbahce are now in advanced talks with the 28-year-old to bring him back to Istanbul, with about a week to go until the transfer window closes in Turkey.
After his transfer to the City Ground broke down, Fener are now in pole position to offer Batshuayi an end to his spell at Stamford Bridge.
The Tricky Trees made a record 21 signings this summer as they look to extend their stay in the Premier League for as long as possible.
While at Besiktas, Batshuayi made 42 appearances in all competitions during the 2021/22 season, scoring 14 goals and laying on five assists.
Clearly no longer in manager Thomas Tuchel’s plans at Stamford Bridge, Batshuayi was put up for sale by the Blues as they agreed a move for Pierre Emerick Aubameyang on deadline day.
