Manchester United signed Sabitzer on loan from Bayern Munich towards the end of the January transfer window following an injury to Christian Eriksen.

Injuries and suspensions mean the Austrian has walked straight into the Manchester United midfield and has earned praise for his performances so far.

However, Roger Wittmann, the player’s agent, claimed that he is not shocked to see the midfielder do well straightaway as someone with his experience was always going to settle quickly at a club of Manchester United’s size.

He believes the midfielder has found his old self at Old Trafford and the Premier League’s tough intensity suits his game better and he is being allowed to show his full range of qualities in England.

Wittmann told German broadcaster Sport1: “Marcel is a top player. It doesn’t surprise me at all that he is performing so well so quickly.

“Anyone who has as much experience as Marcel whether in the Champions League or with more than 60 international caps, doesn’t take long to find their way at a club like this and in a league like this.

“At Manchester United, we are now seeing the Marcel from Leipzig, I am very happy for him.

“He loves the English toughness.

“It was clear from the start that the Premier League was a great fit for him.

“He is an aggressive player and he is doing exactly what he wants there and that’s what was needed there.”

Manchester United are believed to be considering signing him on a permanent deal in the summer with Bayern Munich expected to agree to a fee of €20m.
