Celta Vigo youth academy graduate Veiga has grabbed the attention of ambitious European clubs this summer with his commanding midfield performances.

Newcastle, Manchester City and Liverpool have shown their desire for the 21-year-old central midfielder this summer.

There were claims that Newcastle are closing in on signing him but those suggestions have been shot down.

It is also unclear if Liverpool will pay Veiga’s full €40m release clause this summer as they are exploring other midfield options.

It has been suggested that Napoli are only willing to pay €30m for the Celta Vigo man in their initial offer.

According to Italian news outlet Il Mattino, although Celta Vigo are demanding a full release clause for Veiga, the Italian champions are preparing a contract for the Liverpool and Newcastle target.

It has been claimed that Napoli’s contract draft for Veiga is worth around €1.9m in wages per year on a five-year contract.

Newly appointed Rudi Garcia has identified Veiga as his priority and it has also been claimed that the Italian club have already talked to the player’s camp.

The jury is out on whether Liverpool and Newcastle will step up their interest in Veiga in the upcoming days of the transfer window.
