Toffees boss Sean Dyche is an admirer of Adams and the Merseyside club have been working on agreeing a deal with Southampton.

It is suggested that the two clubs are close to agreeing a fee of £15m, but the deal is not sure to go through as it is unclear how big of an initial payment Everton could make.

To further complicate matters for Everton, another Premier League side are also keen to sign Adams.

It is unclear which Premier League side Everton face competition from, but they could be in a healthier financial position than the Toffees.

Adams could yet stay at Southampton and would then potentially sign a new contract at St Mary’s.

Everton are also interested in Udinese striker Beto and have held talks about signing him.

However, Beto would likely cost more than Adams, leaving question marks over whether that is a deal that Everton could get over the line.
