Adams, 27, has been on the books at Southampton since 2019 and he is now of immense interest to Everton.

Martin’s side are reluctant to let their star attacker go this summer and they have not yet reached an agreement with the Toffees.

The Saints have offered the Scotland international a contract renewal and Martin is hoping that Adams is assessing the offer.

However, he is wary of the situation revolving around Adams and has revealed that anything might happen in the next 24 to 48 hours.

It will be down to the situation and how Che feels about it”, Martin said in a press conference.

Ideally, we will have him in the team tomorrow, have him in the team and if he is not, it is probably because the situation has developed a bit.

We have to be really aware that something might happen in the next 24 to 48 hours. Hopefully it won’t, fingers crossed.

Hopefully he is weighing up the contract offer from us despite what’s gone on previously.

Hopefully, he feels a bit differently now with what we are trying to build.

Now all eyes will be on Southampton to see whether the outfit will be able to tie their star attacker down at St. Mary’s or if he does go to Everton.
