The 31-year-old joined Nottingham Forest from Atalanta last summer and made 28 league appearances.

However, Freuler lost his place in the starting line-up at the end of the season.

Nottingham Forest are looking to strengthen their midfield further this summer and Freuler is down the pecking order.

The Tricky Trees are interested in Bologna’s Dominguez and the Italian outfit are also keen on taking Freuler this summer.

Forest have agreed to a deal with Bologna for Dominguez and according to Italian journalist Rudy Galetti, Freuler is set to go the other way as part of the same deal.

Freuler has yet to make any outings for Nottingham Forest in the ongoing campaign and has two more years left on his contract.

If all goes well, then Steve Cooper will be able to land his desired midfield target in the form of Dominguez.
