The 21-year-old full-back spent last season with Burnley on loan and impressed in Clarets colours.

Maatsen featured 39 times for Vincent Kompany’s Burnley last season and played a major role in helping them achieve promotion.

Several Premier League clubs are keen on acquiring his services this summer, with West Ham and Burnley particularly keen on him.

David Moyes wanted to bring Maatsen in as a replacement for Aaron Cresswell, who is drawing interest from Wolves.

However, Wolves have been reluctant to make a move for Cresswell due to monetary reasons.

And it has been claimed that with Cresswell unlikely to leave this summer, the Hammers have decided to cool their interest in Maatsen.

Now it remains to be seen, with less than 12 hours remaining in the window, whether there is any drama left in the Maatsen saga.
