Leeds produced a convincing performance to beat Millwall 3-0 away from home at the Den on Sunday afternoon to climb the Championship table.

It was Leeds’ first win over Millwall away from home since 2012, when both teams were in League One.

The Whites will be looking to build on their second league win of the season but Newsome believes the squad of players the club have managed to put together are wonderful.

The former Leeds star stressed that Daniel Farke’s forward line are going to scare teams this season.

And he feels Leeds showed against Millwall that they have the defensive resilience to keep teams at bay as well.

Newsome said on BBC Radio Leeds: “I think this squad of players that the club have got together is a strong squad.

“The top of the pitch is electrifying and we will scare teams in this league to death.

“The question mark has always been whether we are strong enough mentally and physically on the defensive side.

“I think we have shown today that we really are.”

Leeds will be on the road again when they visit Hull City on Wednesday night before hosting Watford at Elland Road next weekend.
