Knutsen has also earned praise for his work at Bodo Glimt and would be keen on getting the opportunity in Scotland.
The Gers want to speak to both of them before delivering a final verdict next week.
Rangers want to complete the thorough process of speaking to everyone on their shortlist before finalising the appointment.
