Rangers boosted their chances of reaching the knockout rounds of the Europa League with a 2-1 win over Sparta Prague at Ibrox.
Danilo and Todd Cantwell’s goals in the first half delivered the win for Rangers but McCausland caught the eye with his performance after the break when he came on from the bench.
McCulloch expressed his delight at the way McCausland stood up to the pressure and performed amidst the fervent atmosphere at Ibrox on a big European night.
The former Rangers star picked out his pace and first touch as quality attributes and the impact he made in the final third with his vision and passing as well.
The former Ger said on BBC Radio Scotland: “He was absolutely brilliant.
“He has got pace and I thought his technical first touch was tremendous tonight.
“And playing in this cauldron and the magnitude of the game, to come out and look composed and he looked full of confidence.
“He had a shot on goal, which the goalkeeper made a great save.
“He cut inside the man and had a great weight of pass for Danilo who had a shot on goal.
“He worked hard and is brilliant coming through the academy.”
McCausland has caught the eye under Philippe Clement and is expected to get more opportunities for Rangers going forward.
