Hearts signed the 28-year-old striker in the summer of 2022 from Belgian outfit Beerschot and he scored 24 times in 37 league appearances for the Jambos last term.
Shankland has had a slow start to the ongoing campaign in the league, but has found shooting boots in recent games, where he scored five times in five games.
His performances in recent games have earned him a call-up to the Scotland national team and McManus believes that Hearts are lucky to have Shankland in their team.
McManus stressed that Shankland is a clever player and thinks that he has the quality to play in any team.
“He is a terrific player”, McManus said on PLZ Soccer.
“I think Hearts are lucky to have him.
“I think he could play anywhere.
“Lawrence Shankland, I think he is a really really clever player.”
Shankland drew interest from Rangers in the summer transfer window and it remains to be seen whether Hearts will receive any offers for their frontman in the January transfer window.
