Ajax are prepared to push the boat out in an effort to sign former Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson.

Henderson left Liverpool to sign for Saudi Pro League side Al-Ettifaq in the summer transfer window, but has now grown unhappy in the Kingdom.

He wants to move and although Al-Ettifaq are not keen on selling him, there is interest and Ajax are amongst his suitors.

The Amsterdam side know that Henderson earns around €15m per year in Saudi Arabia, but they are prepared to push the boat out to try to sign him, according to Dutch magazine Voetbal International.

Ajax are claimed to currently be doing everything they can to sign Henderson.

If Ajax sign Henderson on a permanent transfer for a fee, Liverpool will be entitled to a cut of the fee.

When selling Henderson to Al-Ettifaq, Liverpool included a sell-on clause in the deal.

It is unclear if Ajax are eyeing a permanent capture or looking more towards a loan deal for the experienced midfielder this month.
