Luke Ayling is set to undergo a medical at Middlesbrough today ahead of a loan move away from Leeds United, according to The Athletic.

The defender has not featured in a league game since early November and Daniel Farke has preferred to use other options at right-back.

Ayling is in the final year of his contract at Leeds and the club have decided against offering him a new contract.

The defender has been keen to move on this month to play more football and Boro are on the cusp of signing him on loan.

It has been claimed that he will be put through a medical on Teesside today ahead of his move to Middlesbrough.

The two clubs have a deal in place for the defender to leave Leeds on loan for the rest of the season.

Given his contract will expire at the end of the season, his departure will spell the end of his seven-and-a-half-year stay at Elland Road.

He joined Leeds from Bristol City in 2016 in a deal worth £200,000 and played a big part in getting the Whites promoted to the Premier League in 2020.
