Reading have agreed to sell Tom Holmes to Luton Town without the knowledge of their director of football or manager, according to talkSPORT.
The Royals are struggling with off the pitch issues and their League One clash against Port Vale on Saturday was postponed due to a pitch invasion.
The club are looking to raise cash and defender Holmes is set to step up to the Premier League with Luton.
Holmes is now in the process of being put through his medical checks by Luton and if he can pass them without an issue is expected to join.
The transfer is one which has taken Reading boss Ruben Selles and director of football Mark Bowen by surprise.
Neither were informed that Reading had agreed to sell Holmes to Luton.
The Royals decided to cash in on the defender without letting either Selles or Bowen know.
Holmes, 23, came through the youth set-up at Reading, but is now set to leave the Royals to start a new chapter at Luton.
