Championship outfit Watford are very close to agreeing on a loan deal for Udinese defender Antonio Tikvic, it has been claimed in Italy.

Tikvic played for a season with Bayern Munich’s B team before he joined Serie A side Udinese last summer.

Even though the teenage defender has played only a minute of Serie A football this season, he played 120 minutes against Cagliari in the Italian Cup in November.

Championship club Watford are looking to bring in a left-footed central defender and Tikvic is a player they have been linked with for some time now.

And now according to Sky Italia, Tikvic is set to join the Hornets in a loan deal in the ongoing transfer window.

The Croatia youth international will be looking to quickly hit the ground running at Vicarage Road and challenge for a spot in the team.

Tikvic was born in Germany and spent time in the youth ranks at a host of clubs, including St Pauli and Eintracht Frankfurt.

At international level though Tikvic has turned out for Croatia, where he has been capped up to the country’s Under-21s.
