Middlesbrough are willing to stump up more cash for Amad Diallo than rivals for his signature, that include Southampton, and are leading the hunt, according to journalist Alan Nixon.
After struggling with injuries in the first half of the campaign, Amad has regained match fitness but is not a crucial part of manager Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United plans for the remainder of the season.
He is popular in the Championship following a fine loan spell with Sunderland last term.
Sunderland remain admirers, while Southampton are interested in taking Amad to the south coast this month.
Middlesbrough though have now jumped in going ahead in the race to sign Amad due to the finances they are prepared to put into the deal.
Michael Carrick’s side are offering the highest amount of cash in terms of the player’s wages as a part of a loan deal.
They now hope to reach an agreement with Manchester United soon to take Amad to the Riverside.
The jury is out on whether Amad’s other suitors act quickly to increase their financial offer to Manchester United for the winger.
