Sunderland have made signing veteran midfielder Yann M’Vila a priority during this month’s transfer window and have held talks, it has been claimed in France.

The 33-year-old has been without a club since leaving Greek outfit Olympiacos last summer.

M’Vila though has shown no intention of hanging up his boots and has reached out to two top French clubs Lyon and Marseille, insisting that his qualities are compatible with those two teams.

However, no progress has been made in that direction and M’Vila remains without a club this month.

He has now attracted interest from England, where Michael Beale wants to have him in his Sunderland ranks.

Signing experienced midfielder has become a priority for the Black Cats, according to French outlet Foot Mercato.

M’Vila is not a new name for Sunderland fans as he had a stint at the club in 2015.

Sunderland showed interest in M’Vila in the summer as well and now discussions between the club and player have resumed.

It remains to be seen if an agreement will be reached.
