Rangers legend Barry Ferguson believes that Gers boss Philippe Clement understands that the squad need more signings this month.

The Gers are second in the league table, eight points behind Celtic and Clement is focused on bringing in fresh faces to strengthen his team to challenge their city rivals in the second half of the season.

Rangers have so far managed to bring in only one player in the ongoing transfer window in the form of Fabio Silva from Wolves, but have been linked with several players.

Ferguson thinks that the Rangers boss is aware that he needs to bring in more players but stressed that it is tough to get deals done in the winter transfer window.

The ex-Gers star also added that Rangers might have to stay awake until the last few days of the window to push some deals over the finish line.

“He’s only just come in the door and there’s a lot of hard work still to do”, Ferguson wrote in his Daily Record column.

“He knows he needs another couple of signings before the transfer window shuts and he realises that’s easier said than done at this time of year.

“It may take a bit of wheeling and dealing in the last few days of the market.”

Rangers are set to back in action against Dumbarton on Saturday in the Scottish Cup before resuming their league campaign against Hibernian on 24th January.
