APOEL Nicosia have denied receiving any contact from Glasgow giants Rangers for defender Jefte, according to the Rangers Review.

The 20-year-old left-back’s future has come under the scanner due to suggestions that he could be on his way to Scotland.

Rangers have been linked with an interest in signing the defender before the transfer window closes on Thursday night.

Philippe Clement is keen to bring in one more defensive reinforcement before the window closes and Jefte is believed to be the target.

However, it has been claimed that APOEL have knocked back suggestions that Rangers are in contact to sign the left-back.

The Cypriot outfit have not been approached by the Glasgow giants or Fluminense, another club who are said to be interested in Jefte.

APOEL are claiming that Jefte has gone AWOL just ahead of the transfer window closing in the coming days.

It remains to be seen whether the Brazilian is trying to force through a move due to rumours of interest from Rangers.
