Liverpool have not been in direct contact with West Ham United technical director Tim Steidten for their sporting director role.

Reds sporting director Jorge Schmadtke is set to leave the club at the end of January transfer window.

Liverpool are in search of a new sporting director and they have identified targets.

It has been suggested that West Ham’s technical director Steidten has managed to impress the Liverpool hierarchy and he is one of the candidates for the sporting director role.

Steidten joined the Hammers in the summer and played an important role in bringing in a host of players to the London Stadium.

However, according to Sky Deutschland, despite Liverpool showing interest in Steidten, the Reds have yet to establish direct contact with the West Ham technical director.

Liverpool are determined to appoint a sporting director before they bring in Jurgen Klopp’s successor to the club.

Now it remains to be seen whether West Ham will be willing to part ways with Steidten after less than a year of his appointment.
