Hearts have not put in a bid for Kilmarnock and St Mirren target Kevin van Veen, who could leave FC Groningen today, according to the NationalWorld.

Van Veen, a prolific goalscorer in Scottish football, has fallen out of favour at Groningen and is looking for the exit door.

He has already turned down offers and it is suggested that he is keen to head back to Scotland, where he has enjoyed success.

It has been claimed in the Netherlands that Hearts, Kilmarnock and St Mirren are all doing battle for Van Veen.

Hearts though have not put in an offer to sign Van Veen from Groningen.

The Edinburgh side are not expecting to make any signings today unless someone leaves the club.

The news will be a boost for St Mirren and Kilmarnock as they attempt to snap up Van Veen.

Hearts will though be keeping a close eye on the situation around in-demand striker Lawrence Shankland in the event bids come in.
