Philippe Clement has insisted this Rangers side are getting ever closer to the kind of football he wants his teams to play and stressed that they have adapted to his style quicker than he expected.

Rangers hammered Livingston 3-0 at Ibrox on Saturday with Fabio Silva, Rabbi Matondo and Todd Cantwell getting on the scoresheet for the home side.

Clement’s side are now just three points behind Celtic in the Scottish Premiership standings having played a game fewer than their Old Firm rivals.

The Belgian only took charge of Rangers in October and has done a good job in getting through to the last 16 of the Europa League and winning the Scottish League Cup.

The Rangers boss admitted that the Glasgow giants have done a remarkable job in adapting to his style of football within a short period and conceded that it is not as easy as it looks.

Clement said in a press conference after the game: “I see more and more the football I want to play.

“I told the team after the game, where they are now is where most of my teams are after nine months.”

He is also proud of the connection his Rangers side have reestablished with the Ibrox faithful and admitted that it was one of his key goals when he took charge of the team in October last year.

“There is a great synergy with the fans.

“It was a major thing to get it back. To play in an atmosphere like that, it’s a joy to be a football player or manager.

“We want to continue this from both sides, synergy and belief.”
