Fleetwood Town boss Charlie Adam has revealed that when he went to watch Everton star Elijah Campbell he was just hugely impressed with what he brings to the table.

The 19-year-old centre-back is a product of the Everton academy system and joined League One side Fleetwood on loan in the winter transfer window.

Campbell has already clocked up three appearances in League One for Fleetwood as he looks to kick on with his development.

Adam revealed that he knew about Campbell through his recruitment team and stated that he went to see Everton’s Under-21 side take on Manchester City in the Premier League 2 Division 1 before he decided to sign him.

The Fleetwood boss admitted that he liked Campbell’s energy and pointed out that the Everton loanee showed his athleticism during the game against Port Vale.

“I knew about him through recruitment, but again, I went to watch him on Monday night against Manchester City and I just liked everything I had seen about him and his energy”, Adam told Fleetwood’s media.

“He is young but athletic and he has shown that [against Vale].”

Campbell will hope to feature as much as possible for Fleetwood this season to attract Sean Dych’s attention before he gets back to Goodison Park in the summer.
