Brighton are yet to receive a formal approach for their head of recruitment Sam Jewell, who is a target for Chelsea and Manchester United, according to talkSPORT.

Jewell is in the eye of the storm as two of the biggest Premier League clubs are set to battle for his services.

Chelsea are said to have made a move to try and take him to Stamford Bridge, but he is also wanted at Manchester United.

Dan Ashworth wants Jewell to join him at Manchester United and head the club’s scouting operations in a revamped structure at Old Trafford.

However, it has been claimed that Brighton have not received a formal approach for Jewell yet.

Brighton are used to losing key backroom officials behind the scenes with Ashworth leaving them for Newcastle a few years ago.

Paul Winstanley left Brighton for Chelsea in November 2022 and Jewell replaced him as their head of recruitment.

The Seagulls do not stand in anyone’s way if they want to leave the club if they are duly compensated.

Brighton are likely to demand a steep fee if and when one of Manchester United or Chelsea make a formal approach for the 34-year-old.
