Juventus admire Southampton loanee Carlos Alcaraz, but believe his option to buy figure is prohibitive ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Serie A giants signed the midfielder from Southampton on a loan deal until the end of the season in the winter transfer window.

Southampton also agreed to let Juventus have an option to buy the player for a fee of €49.5m following the end of his loan stint.

From the beginning, there has been scepticism about Juventus wanting to pay such a figure for the Argentinian midfielder.

According to Italian sports daily Gazzetta dello Sport (via TuttoJuve), Juventus believe the midfielder’s option to buy figure is prohibitive.

They do admire Alcaraz, but are not interested in paying nearly €50m to buy him in the summer.

Juventus have been planning to hold talks with Southampton regarding Alcaraz at the end of the season.

If Southampton do not get promoted the midfielder would unlikely want to return in the summer.

He could be again loaned out in the summer and Juventus would be his preferred destination.
