Napoli have opened talks to try to put a deal in place for Newcastle United target Davinson Sanchez.

The Colombian defender has reinvigorated his career since making the switch from Tottenham Hotspur to Galatasaray last summer.

Sanchez has shone in the Turkish Super Lig and is attracting attention as the summer transfer window approaches.

Newcastle, who are expected to sign centre-backs in the summer amid an injury crisis, are claimed to have expressed an interest in him.

However, Napoli are now making a strong push to put a deal for Sanchez in place.

According to Turkish daily Takvim (via A Spor), Sanchez’s agent has been holding talks with Napoli in Italy.

The Italians have also made an offer for Sanchez, which came in at €20m plus €5m in add-ons.

Galatasaray believe the total undervalues the former Tottenham defender however and want €30m plus add-ons in order to let him go.

Sanchez could pick up the Super Lig title with Galatasaray this season as they are battling Fenerbahce at the top of the table.
