Juventus and Aston Villa target Adrien Rabiot are cautiously optimistic about reaching an agreement over a new contract this summer.

The Frenchman is out of contract at the end of next month and Juventus are pushing to see him sign on fresh terms with the club.

His contract situation has led to clubs wanting to sign him on a free transfer and Aston Villa are amongst the sides who have touched base with his camp, with Unai Emery a big fan.

Aston Villa are hoping to convince the France international to move to the Midlands with the club now in place to offer him Champions League football.

However, according to Turin-based daily Tuttosport (via Tutto Mercato), talks over a new contract between Juventus and Rabiot’s camp are progressing.

Negotiations have started this week and so far, the talks between the two camps have been positive.

There is optimism emanating from both the clubs over reaching an agreement over a new contract.

Rabiot has always been keen to continue at Juventus and the club also do not want to lose a player of his experience and calibre on a free transfer.

Nevertheless, Juventus have been looking at potential replacements in the event the contract talks fails.
