Celtic goalkeeper Benjamin Siegrist has completed his medical with Romanian side Rapid Bucharest and the switch is likely to be confirmed this evening, according to Football Scotland.

Siegrist’s transfer saga has gone on for quite some time now but it now looks like it will finally be over.

Rapid Bucharest have been trying to wrap up a deal and the player has now completed his medical in Romania after flying into the Eastern European country.

Rapid Bucharest are likely to now confirm the signing of the goalkeeper as soon as this evening.

It will end the 32-year-old’s two-year stint in Glasgow where he never really managed to find a foothold.

He will leave with just two appearances for the Scottish champions.

Siegrist’s most productive spell was with Dundee United for whom he notched up 145 appearances over the course of four years.

Siegrist flew to Romania earlier this week to seal his exit from Celtic.

The veteran goalkeeper is a product of Aston Villa’s youth academy and has represented Switzerland at different youth levels.
