Trabzonspor’s chances of landing Wout Weghorst are greater than signing Paul Onuachu at present, with a deal being done this week aimed for.
The Turkish side have been hot on the heels of Southampton striker Onuachu for some time now after reaping the benefits of his goalscoring ability last season.
However, despite Southampton lowering their valuation and Trabzonspor’s increasing their bid, the two clubs are yet to reach an agreement over the transfer.
Claims were made last week that the Turkish side would be able to wrap up a deal soon.
That has not happened and an alternative option is being looked at by Abdullah Avci’s side.
Burnley’s Weghorst now seems to be a more positive option for Trabzonspor, according to Turkish outlet Tivibu Spor.
This week could prove to be a decisive one with regard to the transfer of a striker and either of two players could join.
Weghorst was on loan at Hoffenheim last season, ending with eleven goal contributions in 30 matches overall in Germany.
He is now inside the final year of his Burnley contract and is expected to move before the window closes.
