Sammie Szmodics is still training with the Blackburn Rovers squad amidst talk of him joining Ipswich Town imminently this summer, according to Sky Sports News.

The 28-year-old forward was the top scorer for a Blackburn side that finished in the bottom half of the league table.

He has been one of the top targets for Ipswich but negotiations with Blackburn have not been as straightforward as expected.

Blackburn have been holding out for more money but with the club closing in on signing Senegalese striker Makhtar Gueye, Szmodics’ exit was expected to be imminent.

However, the forward has been training with the rest of the Blackburn squad today despite talk of his transfer.

Talks are still ongoing between Ipswich and Blackburn for the forward’s potential move to Portman Road.

It seems a final deal is still not in place for the striker to travel to Ipswich for a medical.

Kieran McKenna is pushing to sign him as he looks to build a squad that can survive in the Premier League next season.
