Manchester United have opened official talks with Burnley for the signature of Norwegian midfielder Sander Berge this summer, it has been claimed in Turkey.

Berge has rapidly emerged as a key option in Manchester United’s search for a defensive midfielder in the ongoing transfer window.

Paris Saint-Germain’s refusal to budge from their €60m asking price for Manuel Ugarte forced Manchester United to consider other options.

Manchester United have already been in contact with the Norwegian’s representatives over a potential move to Old Trafford this summer.

According to Turkish journalist Elis Buse Arac, the Premier League giants are now in official negotiations with Burnley.

Manchester United may be looking to move quickly to have a deal in place with Burnley for Berge’s transfer this summer.

Turkish giants Fenerbahce and Galatasaray have also been interested in him but the midfielder is likely to favour playing in the Premier League.

Burnley are prepared to sell Berge and are waiting for suitable offers to land on their table for a player they signed from Sheffield United last summer.
