Leeds United star Georginio Rutter is set to travel to Brighton today for talks to finalise his potential transfer to the Seagulls this summer, according to the Daily Express.

Brighton activated the £40m release clause in his Leeds contract just in time before it expired at midnight on Wednesday.

Leeds were reportedly pleading with the player to stay put and were even prepared to discuss a new contract to convince him to remain at the club.

However, Rutter has made the decision to take up the offer of joining the Premier League club this summer.

It has been claimed that the forward is getting ready to travel to Brighton today to finalise the move.

Rutter will hold talks with Brighton in the hope of wrapping up an agreement to move to the Seagulls this summer.

If the deal goes through it would be a major blow for Leeds as they were not expecting to lose the Frenchman.

They lost Archie Gray and Crysencio Summerville earlier in the window and are on the verge of seeing Rutter leave the club this summer.
