Ipswich Town want both Kalvin Phillips and Sammie Szmodics done and dusted in time for them to be available to face Liverpool, according to Sky Sports News.

Kieran McKenna’s side have agreed a fee with Blackburn Rovers for last season’s Championship top scorer Szmodics.

The attacker has now completed his medical at Ipswich.

He is to join the Portman Road outfit at the same time as Manchester City midfielder Phillips, who is arriving on loan.

And Ipswich are speeding to get both deals over the line and registered before midday today.

The Tractor Boys want both Szmodics and Phillips to be available for their Premier League opener against Liverpool.

Arne Slot’s side will take on Ipswich at Portman Road in the early Premier League kick-off on Saturday.

Whether McKenna would throw either Szmodics or Phillips into the team to face Liverpool remains to be seen.
