Leeds United are ‘very close’ to signing a defender from Swiss top flight side St Gallen.
The Whites are in the market for a full-back to bring in before the transfer window slams shut on Friday night.
They have been linked with a host of possible options, but now appear to have found one in Switzerland.
According to Swiss outlet K Media, Leeds are ‘very close’ to signing left-back Isaac Schmidt from St Gallen.
It is suggested that the chances of the defender pulling on the Whites’ shirt are ‘very high’.
Schmidt is a regular at St Gallen and made 34 appearances in the Swiss Super League for the club over the course of last season, operating mainly as a left-back.
The 24-year-old is also able to play as a right-back when needed.
It is unclear how much Leeds will be paying to sign Schmidt from St Gallen, but the defender has another two years left to run on his deal with the Swiss side.
