Celtic have a ‘medical booked’ for Arne Engels on Friday after reaching a ‘total agreement’ over a fee with Augsburg for his signature.
Engels emerged as the priority target for Celtic a couple of weeks back and the club have been in talks with Augsburg over getting a deal done.
The midfielder has other options but he has been pushing for a move to Celtic because of their involvement in the Champions League.
It has been claimed that the Scottish champions are now on the cusp of signing the 20-year-old midfielder and will do so on deadline day.
According to German broadcaster Sky Deutschland, Engels will check in for a medical with Celtic on Friday as part of the plans.
The Hoops have agreed to pay a fee of €13m to the German club for Engels’ transfer to Parkhead this summer.
Augsburg have also secured a 20 per cent sell-on clause to guarantee more money in the future if the midfielder moves on from Celtic.
Engels has been the top target for Brendan Rodgers and the club are set to finalise his arrival on deadline day.
