Walter Mazzarri continues to keep mum on potential transfer targets despite claiming a happy relationship with his new Inter Milan president and Indonesian business tycoon Erick Thohir.

Thohir officially took over the Inter presidency last Friday from Massimo Moratti, ending the latter's 18-year reign that was littered with big signings and major trophies.

Thohir, who owns sporting franchises in the United States as well, has promised a three-year period of consistency with the 2016 Champions League final in Milan a definite target.

But with Inter first hoping to make a European spot – they finished ninth last season – moves in the winter transfer market are the need of the hour.

"I would like to know if there is a coach who does not want to attract the best players", Mazzarri told Sky Italia.

"I would never say to the press something about a player that I would to my sporting directors or to those who work with me.

"If you say publicly you are interested in a player, they automatically become hard to buy."

Thohir's Inter takeover was first confirmed back in mid-October, when he bought the 70% majority, and Mazzarri is happy with the Indonesian's working ways.

"We talked about, you know, everything", Mazzarri added. "Thohir has a lot of enthusiasm, he is always laughing and is purposeful. He puts us all at ease, speaking in the best way."
