Borussia Dortmund duo Marcel Schmelzer and Mats Hummels will be missing for their crunch clash with Bayern Munich after picking up long-term injuries.

Hummels will be unavailable until the new year due to an ankle injury, while Schmelzer is expected to be out for three weeks with a calf injury.

The injuries came in last night's friendly against England, and will not be pleasing for an already aggrieved Borussia Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp.

Klopp had complained, prior to the friendly, about the number of his players that were used by Germany coach Joachim Low as compared to the number from Bayern Munich.

Klopp is already without Neven Subotic and Lukasz Piszczek, and is facing a minor crisis ahead of this weekend's clash.

Hummels expressed his disappointment via his Facebook page, writing: "Unfortunately, I do not have good news for you. I won't be able to play any more this year.

"So all I can do is support the guys in the next [few] weeks. It will be very difficult but I am optimistic we can make it through these games.

"Although this [injury] is ********, when you see what has happened Neven [Subotic] or Sami [Khedira], it could have been worse."
