Angel di Maria is prepared to quit Real Madrid to join Monaco, according to Spanish daily El Confidencial.

Di Maria was determined to remain at the Bernabeu in the summer despite Real Madrid splashing the cash to buy Gareth Bale, which was certain to mean reduced playing time for the Argentina winger.

While that has not quite happened yet – 13 La Liga appearances so far for Di Maria – there are signs of reduced involvement in the second half of the campaign, including 90 minutes of bench-warming against Real Sociedad on 9th November.

Now Di Maria's agent Jorge Mendes has used his contracts to open the door for his client to join Monaco.

Mendes has worked closely with big spending Monaco in recent months and helped the principality side sign clients Radamel Falcao, James Rodriguez, Ricardo Carvalho and Joao Moutinho.

25-year-old Di Maria could be the next high profile arrival at the Stade Louis II.
