Manchester United centre-back Jonny Evans feels his side deserved to come out with a positive result following their 2-1 loss at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford yesterday.

Emmanuel Adebayor and Christian Eriksen put Spurs 2-0 up by the 66th minute and the Red Devils managed to reply with a solitary strike from Danny Welbeck, shortly after the visitors' second goal.

However, Evans believes Manchester United put Tottenham under a lot of pressure and insisted that the White Hart Lane outfit’s goals “came from nowhere.”

But the defender admitted that it was a disappointing result for the English champions and explained that his side will now try to put in dominating displays similar to that produced prior to the Spurs game, when they won six consecutive games in all competitions.

"I thought we did enough to have got something out of the game", Evans told MUTV.

"We put them under a lot of pressure without creating too many clear-cut chances and they defended well.

"Their goals came from nowhere, really – they had two breaks on us that left us open. It’s disappointing but we’ll keep plugging away.

"We’ve started the new year on a bad note but we’ll keep trying to get results. In the last six games we’ve played quite well and controlled matches – we have to keep at that."
